The Great General Manager Debate

Green Key were delighted to be involved in the first Great General Manager Debate in London last week with Boutique Hotelier Magazine. The event included 4 panel discussions, with Keep Britain Tidy CEO, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, speaking on the first panel of the day, Sustainability, “How to future-proof your hotel for a greener world”.

The event was a great success, with hoteliers out in force to network and talk through the most pressing topics of the moment, with sustainability foremost in many minds. On the panel discussion, Green Key outlined why having a sustainability certification is important to demonstrate to guests and stakeholders that a hotel’s green initiatives are independently verified. In response to a question from the audience regarding eco-labels and historic buildings, Allison Ogden-Newton explained that an establishment in an historic building can still apply for Green Key, as demonstrated by the Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa, in Bath which was recently presented with the award.

Green Key also hosted a stand and networking space in the atrium where hoteliers and suppliers came to find out how to begin their sustainability journey. Our partners from mission : net zero and HOSPA also supported the event, along with several General Managers from Green Key awarded hotels, including Marriott Hotel London Heathrow and London Marriott County Hall.

The Green Key team will be attending more events this year, so why not secure your tickets and come and join us at the Independent Hotel Show and the Hotel & Resort Innovation Expo, both in October in London. We look forward to seeing you there!
