Nhow London joins Green Key for first time

The newly opened nhow London has been awarded Green Key for the first time, joining 46 other NH Hotels already awarded in locations such as Belgium, France, Mexico, South Africa and the Netherlands. NH Hotels have been in partnership with Green Key since 2018, with the nhow London cementing this relationship in England where they currently operate two hotels.

The 190-bedroom city centre hotel is located in the thriving area between Hoxton, Islington and Shoreditch. The hotel’s brand-new rooms are designed to combine traditional British icons with unconventional contemporary style. Designed by architecture and interiors studio, Project Orange, they blend punk and high-tech styles to unique effect. Most rooms offer a view over the hotel’s courtyard or the city outside, and the suites offer an extra perk: the possibility to cycle around London on your own Brompton bike.

As well as in-house bicycle hire, the hotel has a number of other initiatives which helped earn it the prestigious Green Key award. In the lobby there is tap water available for guests, as well as at the breakfast buffet. Providing tap water reduces the use of single-use plastic bottles, which links to the hotel’s promotion of Plastic-Free July.

In order to reduce food waste there is signage at breakfast encouraging guests to take smaller portions and come back for more if needed, and food waste in the kitchen is monitored. The products used in daily cleaning around the hotel have the EU Ecolabel to ensure they do not have a negative effect on the environment. The hotel also has 100% LED lightbulbs to reduce energy use and its carbon footprint.

Listed in The Times Best Hotels in London 2022, the nhow London is an exciting new addition to the Green Key programme. To check if your establishment meets the Green Key criteria complete our free self-assessment.
