Keep Britain Tidy gears up for the Great British Spring Clean

Green Key England are inviting you to join in with their #BigBagChallenge!

Keep Britain Tidy, believe that every act to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference.  

And so, when hundreds of thousands of #LitterHeroes all join forces and take the same action at the same time, the difference we make is huge.  

Back for its seventh year, the 2022 Great British Spring Clean takes place 25 March – 10 April.    

This year the message is simple. Join their #BigBagChallenge and pledge to pick up as much litter as you can during the campaign.

Green Key England would like to invite everyone in the hospitality sector to join in the campaign to make a difference on their doorstep. Taking part is easy, you just need to work out how many staff will take part in the campaign and how many bags of litter (approximately) they will each pick during the length of the 16 day campaign. Any size of bag counts! The most important thing is that there will be less left in the environment posing a threat to wildlife.

And for Green Key establishments, participation in the campaign can be used as evidence towards your Green Key application under section 11.6 (guideline criteria);

11.6 The establishment actively supports at least two environmental or social community development activities.

Once you know how many staff are taking part, and how many bags they will each pick, you need to register your pledge as a ‘group’ on the Keep Britain Tidy website here.

Once registered you will receive emails containing further details of how to conduct your pick safely and also where to source equipment such as litter pickers and high vis vests.
